ROC Expands Patient Care Offerings with Acquisition of Physical Therapy Group

Acquisition of ActiveEDGE Physical Therapy & Wellness Center Enhances ROC’s Commitment to Integrated, Outcome-Focused Orthopedic Care

ROC is proud to announce the acquisition of ActiveEDGE Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, a well-established physical therapy practice serving clients across the Portland area. This acquisition expands ROC’s ability to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care by integrating physical therapy services directly within its care model.

Founded in 2014, ActiveEDGE has built a strong reputation for patient-centered rehabilitation and evidence-based treatment. By bringing physical therapy in-house, ROC strengthens the continuity of care across orthopedic specialties, from diagnosis and non-operative treatment to post-surgical recovery and long-term mobility.

“We’re pleased to offer in-house physical therapy,” said James Ballard, M.D., orthopedic surgeon and a founder of ROC. “Physical therapy plays a critical role both before and after surgery, helping patients improve outcomes and recover more efficiently. Having a dedicated team within ROC allows for better coordination and visibility into each patient’s progress from the very beginning.”

As part of the integration, ActiveEDGE will operate under a unified brand as ROC Active – Orthopedic Rehabilitation, aligning its identity with ROC. The updated branding reflects a shared commitment to streamlined access, cohesive communication, and a seamless patient experience.

“Joining ROC allows ActiveEDGE to better reach patients at key moments in their care journey,” said Dan Morlan, owner of ActiveEDGE. “Our shared goal is to provide a truly comprehensive experience, supporting patients from their first consultation through recovery and a confident return to daily activity.”

Physical therapy services at ROC are expected to begin at a future date, with additional details regarding timing and location to be announced.
