As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Associate (PA-C) to join our Total Joint team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons specializing in adult reconstruction while practicing at the top of your license in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Position Overview
The PA-C will work closely with a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in total hip and knee replacement. This dynamic role includes outpatient clinic, surgical first assist, hospital rounding, and participation in an evening and weekend orthopedic call rotation.

Key Responsibilities
- First assist in orthopedic surgeries, including primary and revision total hip and knee replacement procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical examinations.
- Evaluate and manage patients with hip and knee arthritis, degenerative joint disease, avascular necrosis, fractures, and other conditions requiring adult reconstruction.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound evaluations, suture and staple removal, rehabilitation coordination, and patient education.
- Perform orthopedic procedures within scope of practice, including joint injections, aspirations, fracture management, splinting, casting, and wound care.
- Round on hospitalized orthopedic patients and coordinate inpatient care with the supervising surgeon.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, case managers, and other members of the care team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, joint replacement surgery, recovery expectations, rehabilitation, and long-term joint health.
- Participate in the Physician Associate evening, weekend, holiday, and other assigned orthopedic call rotation, responding to urgent patient needs and coordinating care with supervising physicians.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Associate program.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Current Oregon Physician Associate license (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Current DEA registration.
- Current BLS certification.
- Eligibility for hospital and ambulatory surgery center credentialing.
Preferred
- Orthopedic experience strongly preferred; new graduates with exceptional orthopedic clinical rotations will be considered.
- Experience assisting in orthopedic surgery.
- Experience with joint injections, fracture management, casting, splinting, and other orthopedic procedures.
- Experience participating in orthopedic call rotations.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to manage a busy clinic schedule while collaborating effectively with the orthopedic team.
