This alternative to traditional ACL reconstruction surgery focuses on preserving the body’s native tissues, helping patients get back on their feet quicker.
Dr. Feinblatt is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in reconstructive knee, foot, and ankle surgery as well as sports medicine. With extensive experience and fellowship training in sports medicine, Dr. Feinblatt is committed to innovative care that enhances patient outcomes. Dr. Feinblatt has now been performing BEAR ACL repairs for over two years and is among the most experienced surgeons in the Pacific Northwest offering this procedure.

The BEAR® Implant preserves the knee’s anatomy and landmarks by creating a protective environment where the knee can heal on its own. This helps facilitate the body’s own natural healing response by supporting cell migration and proliferation. By 8 weeks post-surgery, the implant has been reabsorbed. The timeline for a full recovery matches ACL reconstruction at approximately 9 months.
Patients who opt for the BEAR® Implant experience less surgical trauma than traditional ACL reconstruction since no grafts are needed from other parts of the body, and patients are able to maintain their ACL. Patients also experience less risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis than with traditional ACL reconstruction, which helps reinforce long-term knee health beyond short-term stability. Ideal patients are at least 14 years of age with complete ACL tears, primarily those with a femoral side tear.
